The Turkish Red Crescent Society sponsored an ifthar dinner for the children staying at the Emel Orphanade in Gaza. General Director Dr. Kerem Kınık stated “We will continue to support the oprphans in Gaza. Their bayram clothes will come from the Society”. The annex building to the Emel Orphanage in Gaza, whose needs are provided by the Society.
Turkish Red Crescent General Director Dr. Kerem Kınık and the delegation including Assistant Director İsmail Hakkı Turunç, Assistan General Secretary Tuncay Kopuz, board members Cengiz Yurdabekçi and Sabahattin Tezdiğ visited Palestine. On the first day, the Society’s delegation visited the Turkish Embassy in Jerusalem, sharing with Ambassador Mustafa Sarnıç their projects for Palestine. On the next day, the group traveled to Gaza.
Kızılay administrators who received a briefing on the humanitarian aid campaigns conducted in Gaza, exchanged opinions and feedback with the institutions and organizations conducting humanitarian outreach, mainly Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
Dr. Kerem Kınık and the delegation then sposored an ifthar dinner at the Emel Orphanage occupied by 120 young residents. Dr. Kınık who reported that the activities at the Emel Orphanage continue on an uninterrupted basis said “We will continue to support the orphanage, and we will provide for the bayram clothes of the orphans who live here”. Work is about to be finalized fort he expansion of the capacity of the orphanage. Two more floors were added to the orphanage under the sponsorship of the Turkish Red Crescent and Dr. Kerem Kınık and the other Turkish Red crescent administrators opened the new sections. Dr. Kınık wrote on the special book “You are our brothers, our cooperation and friendship will continue”. It is estimated that there are 20 thousand orphans in Gaza due to Israeli attacks and natural deaths in Gaza with a population of 2 million.
Food aid to 17 thousand families
Dr. Kerem Kınık and the accompanying delegation stated that the solidarity with the people of Palestine will continue. “We are cooperating with the Palestinian Red Crescent in managing the distribution of food packages to about 17 thousand families in Gaza during the month of Ramadan. This year, the Turkish Red Crescent Society will support the efforts of housing benefits to 500 families in Shejaiya, the rehabilitation of the Palestinian Red Crescent hospital in Jerusalem, the construction of a major disaster storage to be used by the Palestinian Red Crescent, the expansion of the capacity of the Emel Orphanage and provision of humanitarian aid” Dr. Kınık reported.
Kınık said that their Palestinian budget for this year is 12 million dollars and the outreach projects will continue in the wider area of Gaza during and after the month of Ramadan.
