The victims who are injured as a result of the earthquake measured 7.2 on the Richter scale took place in Van Province and whose lives were saved from ruins are taken to the hospitals in the region for the medical treatment. The Turkish Red Crescent Blood Centers in the region were alerted for the victims’ blood needs which may occur.

The necessary bloods and by-blood products are being delivered to the hospitals for the injured victims from the TRCS Blood Centers which are close to the disaster zone. Firstly, 1500 unit bloods were sent to the health facilities from Erzurum, İzmir and Ankara Regional Blood Centers. There are no shortages of negative blood groups in delivered bloods. 18.000 unit various kind of bloods are hold in the Turkish Red Crescent stocks to be ready and dispatched if the needs may occur.

Contacts to the hospitals in the regions were done.

All hospitals in the regions were contacted to share the information that all kind of blood needs will be covered. 3000 unit Bloods ready in the Van and Erzurum Regional Blood Centers closest to the disaster zone will be delivered to the hospitals in accordance with the needs.

The citizens who would like to donate blood may also apply to Turkish Red Crescent Blood Donation Centers.
