The Turkish Red Crescent Special Teams comprised of 123 members arrived at disaster zone after the earthquake measured 7.2 on the Richter scale took place in Van Province. The works for pitching tents for the victims whose houses were damaged are going on. Tents and blankets are continuously delivered to the disaster zone by the TRCS. The total number of delivered tents is 12,981 and the total number of delivered blanket is 25,229.

A mass amount of 12,891 tents, 8 common use shelter tents, 25,229 blankets, 3,812 catalytic heaters, 2000 unit 12 kg lpg tanks, 1,719 kitchen sets, 1,000 body bags, 1,120 food parcels, 27,575 potable waters, 13,075 breads, 27,824 ready-to-eat-meats and 100 tons of food items were consigned to the disaster zone from the logistics centers spread all over the Turkey of the TRCS which has taken immediate action after earthquake. 1 mobile bakery and 21 mobile kitchens were dispatched to the disaster zone and TRCS Soup kitchen is providing cooked meals to the victims. All preparations of delivery of the additional items to zone which will be needed were done.

Works for settlement of tent camps are going on.

First party of tents pitching process has been started initiated in the Erciş, Sub Province of Van. 1 in Stadium and 1 on the way to Van direction, totally two tent cities in Erciş were settled. The additional tents which are on the way to disaster zone will be pitched up in the mentioned two tent camps when they will be arrived.

Turkish types, useable in four season tents were dispatched to the region by taking into account of climate conditions. Catalytic heaters may be used inside of the14 m2 tents.

Psycho-Social Support to the victims

The expert psychologists of the TRCS were assigned to disaster zone to provide psycho-social support to earthquake affectees. Psychologists who were in the disaster zone in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake will provide psycho-social support particularly to the children to recover their psychological traumas.

Contacts to the hospitals in the regions were done

The required bloods and by-blood products are being delivered to the hospitals for the victims from the TRCS Blood centers closest to the earthquake zone. Firstly, 1500 units of blood were sent to the health facilities from Erzurum, İzmir and Ankara Regional Blood Centers. There are no shortages of negative blood groups in delivered bloods. 18.000 units of various kind of blood are hold in the Turkish Red Crescent stocks to be ready and dispatched for the needs which may occur.

All hospitals in the regions were contacted to share the information that all kind of blood needs will be covered. 3000 units of blood ready in the Van and Erzurum Regional Blood Centers closest to the disaster zone will be delivered to the hospitals in accordance with the needs.
