Red Crescent Also to Help the Rakhine Muslims in Myanmar

Signing a cooperation agreement with Myanmar Red Cross, Turkish Red Crescent to help the Rakhine Muslims for 3 years after Bangladesh.
Turkish Red Crescent has signed a cooperation agreement with Myanmar Red Cross to overcome humanitarian crisis in Rakhine State, Myanmar and to convey aid to the state. Turkish Red Crescent President Dr. Kerem Kinik mentioned that they had been providing humanitarian assistance to the Rakhine Muslims, who took shelter in Bangladesh due to the ongoing incidents since August 25, and added: “On the other hand, we decided to convey humanitarian aids to Myanmar and forwarded our message to authorities through Myanmar Red Cross”. Dr. Kinik said that upon acceptance of their offer, a zone of mutual agreement ensured signing the cooperation agreement.
Myanmar Red Cross President Prof. Dr. Mya Thu stated: “our agreement with Red Crescent, which is a one-and-a-half century old organization connected to this region with historical bonds, is invaluable. I hope our cooperation increasingly continues”.
ın the context of 3-year agreement, Red Crescent will offer capacity increasing support to Myanmar Red Cross and assign Red Crescent staff in Myanmar for the implementation of projects. At the first stage, Red Crescent will an instrument aid of around 1,5 million liras to help building aid storages, transports and aid disbursement network in 10 regions around Rakhine.
