The biggest terrorist attack in recent years occurred in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. In the treacherous attack that killed hundreds of people, Turkey stepped up to deliver treatment to the injured and provide support for search & rescue efforts in the buildings destructed by the attack. Mobilizing right after the attack, Turkish Red Crescent dispatched medical equipment procured by the Ministry of Health and humanitarian aid materials such as blankets and tents to the region.

Within the intervention, as well as the Ministry doctors, doctors serving at Turkish Red Crescent hospitals also went to the country to assist the efforts and serve in the transfer of patients.
Operating in Mogadishu since 2011, specialist teams under the Turkish Red Crescent Delegation Directorate provided ration support for the teams performing search & rescue efforts on the scene.
