Young Volunteers Meet in Antalya

Young volunteers, who came to Antalya for General Council of International Federation of Red Crescent-Red Cross Associations to be hosted by Red Crescent between 5 and 11 November 2017, gathered in Red Crescent-Red Cross Youth Forum.
Chairman of Red Crescent Dr. Kerem Kınık, IFRC Chairman Tadateru Konoe, Secretary-General Elhadj As Sy and about 150 young volunteers from Red Crescents and Red Crosses of 111 countries participated in the Red Crescent-Red Cross Youth Forum in Antalya. The sessions started with general introductions of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Youth Commission. Year 2030 objectives of IFRC were mentioned in the sessions. Young volunteers who got informed of the Red Crescent-Red Cross Movement’s activities in the forum found the chance to learn how to contribute to the favor quest.
“Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is the name of a goodness quest”
Addressing the volunteers in the opening of the Youth Forum, Dr. Kerem Kınık said, “Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is the name of a goodness quest of which principles are humanity, not discriminating, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality. Principles are essential to our Movement. As long as each member of this Movement embraces these values, they will enjoy serving to humanity deservedly and become a proper member of goodness and a Safe Hand. You can put forward an idea about the structure and mission of our Movement in the world given these principles.
“Youth is dynamism, strength, and hope”
Stating that one thinks about the precious youth movements of the Red Family when it comes to volunteers, Kınık said, “We see you as the dynamo of our Movement, goodness team of future. That’s why we’re trying to give you opportunity whenever possible. We, as Red Crescent, pay attention to include our young volunteers in our national and international operations. This way, our precious Red Crescent youth who gain experience feel more engaged in the Movement. Because mediating the goodness in person has a spiritual impact. We believe those who cause goodness are as if they were those did it. And goodness is a caravan taking humankind to peace. I’m inviting every and each one of you to expand this caravan. We, as the Turkish Red Crescent, aim to reach 2 million young Red Crescent member to join them in our body so that we can expand our caravan of goodness. Youth is dynamism, strength, and hope. You are responsible for mobilizing its potential for goodness. Therefore, our Movement needs you more than ever.”
Mentioning that he was a young volunteer in the first place, IFRC Chairman Tadateru Konoe said that an important duty falls to youngsters in the face of humane hardships.
IFRC Chairman of Youth Commission Bas van Rossum thanked the Movement for organizing such a forum and assigning such a role to the youth and stated that they, as youngsters, will complete this mission as youth.

Chairman Kınık and Red Crescent Management met with the representatives of national associations for acquaintance.
