Turkish Red Crescent Community Centers Volunteers Will Be Trainers

Turkish Red Crescent Community Centers have carried out Community Based Health and First Aid Trainer’s Training in Ankara for Community Center volunteers.
The training was given by Health Delegate of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Dr. Jeyathesan Kulasingam. Coordinator of Migrant Health of the Ministry of Health Mohammed Ceren and Dr. Ela Kelepir from Migrant Health Center also made presentations regarding access to health care issues in Turkey.
A total number of 41 female volunteers from Bağcılar, Bursa, Ankara, Adana, İzmir, Sultanbeyli, Konya, Kilis, Şanlıurfa and Mersin Community Centers and Ankara Child Protection Center participated to the trainings, which took place in two parts, on 15-19 January and 21-25 January. Two Syrian volunteers, who emigrated to Europe and worked in the Croatian Red Cross, came to Ankara for training as well.
Participant certificates were given by Turkish Red Crescent Deputy Director General Alper Küçük and Red Crescent - Red Cross Movement Coordinator Kamil Erdem Güler.
Syrian women volunteers will give trainings to other Syrian beneficiaries.
Syrian women volunteers from each community center attended to the training.  After the training they receive, they will train the Syrian Women in their centers under the supervision of community center specialists on topics such as protection from infectious diseases, reproductive health, healthy lifestyle, first aid, chronic diseases, pregnancy and baby care.  They will also exchange information with field visits.
