Helping the needy people in Afghanistan for a long time, Turkish Red Crescent has opened a permanent representation office in Kabul, capital city of the country, to make the aid more systematic and has recently distributed supplies for about 1,500 people.
Dr. İbrahim Altan, Red Crescent General Director, who attended the distribution ceremony held in the Kabul office of the Afghan Red Crescent, said that Afghanistan has been experiencing wars for almost 40 years, and that the country is very tired of these wars and Afghan people are poor because of this. By stating that an office in Afghanistan was opened to help and meet the needs of the Afghan people, Mr. Altan also said that the office was continuing its assistance activities together with the Afghan Red Crescent. “In Kabul, about 1,500 people in need of food were provided with food that could be benefited for a month. There are too many people who are in need and unemployed in Afghanistan and we, therefore, will continue our assistance activities in the future” he said.
